The Kirra Sports Club was full of sporting heroes, both local and national, with the Coolangatta Blues holding a fundraising sportsman’s dinner last Friday.
The Coolangatta Tweed Aussie Rules Club, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, played host to colourful guest-speakers former Swans player Barry Rounds (who is now Gold Coast based) and the flamboyant former Brisbane Lions player, Jason Akermanis.
More than 150 players, past and present, came along for the dinner and entertainment and raised money for the club. It was part of a big weekend for the club, with Akermanis suiting up the next day to play for the Blues for the day.
