STONY Creek will soon benefit from two community clean-up days aimed at improving stormwater quality.
The clean-up days will target problem areas across the municipality to help limit the amount of litter entering the storm water system.
Organised by the Clean and Green group, Maribyrnong residents have been invited to lend a hand this weekend at the South Rd Shopping Village in Braybrook.
The clean-up will also include an audit to determine what are the most commonly littered items to help focus future litter awareness campaigns.
The volunteer group organises four events each year to encourage community participation to help improve the environment. This Saturday’s event will be held from 9am to noon on the corner of South Rd and Duke St.
Volunteers will pull on their gloves again for a clean-up by the river on Saturday 1 December at the rear of Footscray Community Arts Centre from 9am to noon.
