Spring Hills rides onto the scene

SPRING Hills is the name of the first and only soccer club in the Caroline Springs region.
The newly formed club, which aims to have children up to the age of 18 score a few goals, will open in April next year.
The club’s name, including the logo of a stallion in blue and silver, were finalised last week, thanks to six students from the region’s local schools who helped put their ideas into action.
The club has taken the Stallions as its nickname.
The six winners were among 300 entrants who for the past month worked on their creations.
Club president Tom Bendistinto, who is also the Goal Kick coach in Caroline Springs, said this year’s World Cup in Germany had sparked interest among children about soccer.
“This is the start of something great and I’m looking forward to the northern region of Caroline Springs where the council (Melton Shire Council) has promised to put a new stadium,” Mr Bendistinto said.
The construction of three soccer fields near Gourlay Rd, between Hillside and Taylors Hill, is expected to be finished early next year.
The club’s games will take place every Saturday morning from April to September next year.
Club training will take place twice a week and a sign-up afternoon for the teams will be held on 25 November from 1pm to 3pm at Parkwood Green Primary School in Hillside.
