Werribee River will be nursed back to health

WERRIBEE Park Golf Club and Melbourne Water are working on a project to improve the health of the Werribee River.
Melbourne Water has awarded the club a $9500 grant to control weeds and plant native shrubs and grasses at the edge of its course along the banks of the river.
Melbourne Water waterways manager Chris Chesterfield said 70 kilometres of waterway frontage across the Port Phillip and Western Port region were used by golf courses and other sports grounds.
Werribee Park golf club president Wayne Byrne said the club would begin clearing and planting in the coming months
The work would be done by course staff and volunteers.
