A WERRIBEE woman is counting her lucky stars this week after winning more than half a million dollars in Tattslotto.
Years of taking a punt paid off when Tatts officials told the woman she was one of five first division winners who would be getting $655,431.
“She was absolutely shocked,” Tattersall Lotteries representative Gerry Devine said.
“She kept repeating this must be wrong. It must be a mistake.”
The woman, who wants to remain anonymous, told Mr Devine she intended to use the money to “help out” her family and various charities.
“She said she was used to receiving only bad news these days,” he said.
She bought the winning ticket at Target Lotto, in Hoppers Crossing.
Store manager Carlo Addamo reckoned the store was one of the luckiest around the state.
“This is our fourth first division win in eighteen months,” Mr Addamo said,
“We’re a very lucky shop.”
Mr Devine agreed, stating the odds of one store having four wins in 18 months was very unusual.
“It doesn’t happen often, that’s for sure,” he said.
Mr Addamo said there had been many new faces in the shop since the win was announced, and that he and his wife continued to buy their weekly ticket in the hope of striking it lucky.
“We’re chasing the dream just like everyone else,” he said.
The Werribee woman shared the division one prize pool with two entries from Inverloch and Greensborough, as well as one entry from Queensland and one from South Australia.
