POLICE are hunting a man that assaulted a woman in a brazen daylight attack in Hoppers Crossing earlier this month.

On Thursday 3 January at around 7am a woman who was going for a morning walk was allegedly assaulted by an unknown man.

The woman was walking on Cowderoy St Reserve in Hoppers Crossing, near Hawthorn Drive, when the man attacked her.

She fought the man off before he fled down Hawthorn Drive.

A Victoria Police spokesperson told Star that the woman was from Hoppers Crossing and aged in her 30s.

“She was grabbed by the male, believed to be in his 20s, from behind and they have both fallen to the ground,” the spokesperson said.

“She managed to fight the man off and he then ran away.

“She didn’t receive any injuries and she wasn’t taken to hospital.”

A resident that lives nearby said she was terrified to know the area could be so dangerous.

“I walk sometimes by myself and I’ve never even thought something like that could happen,” the woman said.

“I can tell you now I won’t be walking by myself anymore and if I do I’ll be taking a cricket bat with me.”

The offender is described as dark skinned with very tight curly hair. He was wearing black track pants and a black shirt over a red shirt.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
