DANGEROUS chemicals that were stolen from a business in Derrimut earlier this month have been located by police in Western Australia.
Victoria Police called on members of the community to be careful of the hazardous material in the wake of the theft.
A spokesperson said around 7pm on Monday 8 July a group of offenders were believed to have broken into a shipping container at a Calarco Drive premises where they removed 80,330 gram cans of alumium phosphide.
“The chemical is extremely dangerous and will explode when it comes into contact with water,” the spokesperson said.
As of last week, it was unknown why the chemicals were stolen, but late last week it was reported by police that they were located safe and sound in Western Australia.
Anyone with information about the alleged theft should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
