Norths Coach and goal-keeper Andy Lennon returned to his old home ground at the Armidale Sportsground on Saturday in Round 7 of the New England Premier League where his old side, South Armidale, held out to their much fancied opponents Norths United one-all.
In what some would consider a boilover, South Armidale went into the match well and truly the underdogs. Norths held a one-nil lead for the majority of the match. However, through consistent attacks on the Norths goal, they finally made one stick late in the second half. A jubilant Souths held Norths at bay for the remainder of the game, to draw.
In other Northern Conference games, Glen Innes Highlanders defeated Joeys FC 4-2, demon Knights defeated East Armidale 3-0.
Southern Conference results were: Imperials defeated Narrabri Cougars 5-0, Tamworth FC defeated North Companions 4-2, OVA defeated Gunnedah United 9-1 and Wee Waa United Football Club defeated Moree 2-0.
