Sporting chances

LOCAL sporting clubs, active recreation clubs, regional sporting leagues and associations can apply for funding of up to $2500 under VicHealth’s active club grants.
The initiative aims to increase participation and improve community sport and recreation opportunities, especially for disadvantaged groups.
VicHealth chief executive Todd Harper said a lack of sporting equipment was often the only barrier to participation. Altona MPLynne Kosky said she hoped the grants would help get new sporting teams and activities up and running.
The closing date for applications is Friday 3 December. Active club grant guidelines and application forms are available online at www.vichealth.gov.au, or from local council offices, regional sports assemblies and state sporting associations.
