Seagulls supporters are in the box seat

Williamstown supporters have the opportunity to have their name memorialised at Burbank Oval and help the football club pay off its remaining obligation to Hobsons Bay Council for the multi-million dollar redevelopment of the footy and cricket ground.
The club budgeted on contributing $1.5 million to the exciting project, but that figure has been bumped up to about $2 million.
Williamstown Football Club has already paid $1.25 million, and is looking to members, sponsors and supporters to help.
The club, through the Australian Sports Commission, has made 322 seats in the new grandstand available for supporters to buy a plaque for. Tax deductible donations of $100, 300 or $500 can be made in return for a plaque on one the seats.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for sponsors to obtain promotion and publicity,” Williamstown Football Club president Trevor Monti said.
“Along the way we’ve had to spend money on a whole range of things which we never anticipated, which will be for the betterment for the users of the facility.”
This includes a new canteen, bar and barbecue area, costing almost $250,000. The redeveloped oval, expected to be completed in mid-April, will feature a new grandstand, function centre, electronic scoreboard, state-of-the-art player facilities.
