E-waste trial set for September

HOBSONS Bay City Council’s first e-waste recycling trial will be held next month for residents to safely dispose of unwanted televisions, computers, DVD players and electronic toys.
The free trial will exclude white goods, barbecues, televisions with broken glass, smoke alarms and fluorescent lamps.
Councillor Angela Altair said the aim of the trial was to prevent tonnes of harmful electronic waste going to landfill.
The trial date will be Saturday 8 September from 8am-3pm at the Hobsons Bay City Council Depot, Sugar Gum Drive, Altona.
The service will be free for Hobsons Bay residents and a maximum of two televisions and two computers per vehicle will be accepted. For more information, visit www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au or contact 9932 1000.
