After making a giant-killing start to the season, the Kings have kept the momentum going with a solid 6-2 victory over Coomera at Reg Dalton Oval, Kingscliff on Saturday afternoon.
Mid-fielder Chris Edwards scored a hat-trick of goals with Armadeep Ghooti, playing out wide on the left wing, scoring two and striker Luke Morley adding one.
However coach Craig Madden said it could have been even better if a lapse in concentration hadn’t let Coomera back in the game.
“It was good to win but we let in some soft goals – we went to sleep,” he said.
“They (Coomera) haven’t been doing that well, but they turned up and played alright.
“We went to the break 1-0 up but they scored two quick goals after half-time and were leading.”
However Madden said his side were able to come home strongly to take the points, holding on to fifth spot on the ladder (although they have played two less games than leaders Palm Beach and Southport). There record so far is three wins, two draws and just one loss.
Madden and his charges will be looking to improve their standing even more when they take on seventh placed Nerang who have only won two games from the sixth they’ve played.
This weekend’s game will be up in Nerang with Madden looking for his team to play for the full 90 minutes.
