Kim Ferguson and Jan Aitchison - named in a national training squad.

FLAMIN’ Dragons Port Macquarie paddlers Kim Ferguson and Jan Aitchison have passed the first selection stage and been named in the Masters and Grand Masters national dragon boat training squads.
Known as the Auroras, the national dragon boat squads will be contesting the world championships in Canada in August 2015.
To gain selection the duo had to travel to the Central Coast and undergo a series of fitness tests.
The testing included chin-ups, one-arm kettle bell snatches, bench presses, beep test and sit-ups.
Candidates were scored out of 10 in each category and the top 36 in the country in each age category were selected for the training squad.
The national squad will get together in November for more of the same testing with additional water trials and technique assessment.
The top 24 in each category will be selected to represent Australia at the world championships next year.
In another milestone, the club will be celebrating its 10th anniversary with a dinner on Saturday 9 August at the Westport Club.
The club has grown significantly in that time from fewer than 10 members to a current membership of more than 70.
The membership is diverse representing all ages, genders and fitness levels.
Former members of Flamin’ Dragons are very welcome to come to the dinner to share their stories and catch up with old friends. The cost is $40.
To book contact Robyn Morgan on 6584 9455 or email the club at flamindragons@y7mail.com.
