Surf girls have mums on board

MID North Coast Girls Surfriders celebrated Mother’s Day in style.
Fittingly, Mother Nature provided beautiful offshore and glassy conditions with a few nice peaks running left and right all day long.
Forty girls took to the water to compete in eight divisions.
While the girls were surfing in their respective heats their mothers enjoyed a freshly cooked bacon-and-egg roll for breakfast and for morning tea a delicious sponge cake kindly gifted from Peter Whitehouse from Lake Cathie Bakery.
The group’s focus and values at every competition are to:
* Promote girls’ surfing.
* Promote fun, fitness and friendship.
* Promote the enjoyment of surfing.
* Promote full participation regardless of ability.
* Provide a non-threatening environment.
