That’s how they roll

ROLLER derby is no longer just the ‘whip it’ image of fights and fishnets. It’s competitive, it’s fierce, and it’s athletic. Surprised? Read on.
One of the first things brand-new skaters notice is the soreness in muscles they didn’t even realise existed. Before long those muscles don’t hurt anymore and skaters realise their clothes are looser because their body is firming up, becoming stronger.
This strength expands to include the core muscles required to resist those hits, and along with the strength comes the courage to put them out. These muscles are built up over months of training that becomes secondary to the enjoyment experienced as being part of a group as close-knit as Port Macquarie Roller Derby League.
The league is recruiting new members all the time. You don’t have to have any experience on roller skates, as we have experienced skaters who love teaching newcomers how to roll.
