Dressed to de-stress

Lake Cathie Children’s Cottage members, back row, Maree Bartrim, Donna Salt, Susan Burtenshaw and Angela Connerty, and, front row, Nerida Wilkinson, Denielle Dietrich, Lelani Dietrich and Cassie Lucas, get dressed up to promote Stress Down Day.

DRESS down and stress down tomorrow!
That’s the challenge from Lifeline which is holding a fund-raising Stress Down Day tomorrow, Friday 25 July.
Lifeline is encouraging Hastings residents to laugh more, stress less and help raise funds for Lifeline Mid Coast.
A spokesperson for Lifeline said a stress poll by Lifeline had found that 98 per cent of Australians indicated humour and laughter reduced stress which is why this year’s theme was going to focus on laughter.
“Stress Down Day is a fun and easy initiative to reduce stress and Lifeline is dedicated to reducing the burden of stress on our community,” she said.
“We encourage people in schools and workplaces to have fun with their friends and family and laugh in order to reduce stress levels.
“Dress up, hold a morning tea or take time out just to laugh with your mates.
“The money raised will go towards helping run our 24-hour telephone support services, a service that is literally life saving for thousands of Australians every year.”
Any money raised can be dropped off at Lifeline stores.
The money will be put to extremely good use, helping fund Lifeline emergency support and its crisis line, which received the highest call average per seat nationwide recently.
Lifeline Mid Coast answered 1634 calls in June.
Lifeline Mid Coast is one of 40 locations throughout Australia that operates the Lifeline national crisis support service.
Anyone who needs support in a crisis or who is thinking about suicide can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
