THE PORT Macquarie Memory Walk and Jog is just a week away and Alzheimer’s Australia NSW is offering the first 500 people who sign-up a free Memory Walk and Jog T-shirt.
Alzheimer’s Australia NSW is asking participants to get in early, sign-up and start raising funds to help support the estimated 1700 people living with dementia in the region.
The organisation has set an ambitious fundraising target of $50,000 to assist the Port Macquarie Dementia Memory Community Centre to provide support, education and advocacy services.
There are plenty of fun and creative things that participants can do to help fund-raise. You can ask people to sponsor you to do the walk, host a fund-raising morning tea or casual dress day at school or work.
Alzheimer’s Australia NSW regional manager North Coast Gary Thomas urged the community to join him in the race against dementia by registering today.
“All funds raised in Port Macquarie will stay in Port Macquarie,” Mr Thomas said.
The event will be held at Westport Park in Port Macquarie on Sunday 31 August. Participants can choose to take part in a 2km walk, a 7.5km walk or a 7.5km run.
