Jump into water-recycling projects, residents urged

CITY West Water has called on Altona and Laverton residents to get involved in new water-recycling projects at Altona Treatment Plant.
City West managing director Anne Barker encouraged locals to join the Altona Treatment Plant Community Liaison Committee to have a say in the site’s operation, monitor its environmental performance and promote the community’s concerns.
“We’re always looking for ways to include the community in our environmental program and this committee gives local people the chance to really be heard,” Ms Barker said.
The newly upgraded Altona Treatment Plant treats about 16,000 kilolitres of waste water every day, and will produce recycled water for industry and irrigation.
“The upgraded plant has significantly improved the impact on the local environment,” she said.
