WINNING the tourism section of the Hobsons Bay Business Excellence Awards last year was a significant moment for the team from Captains Retreat.
The Williamstown ‘Bed and Breakfast’ is located in an architecturally-stunning, refurbished Victorian building near the water and apart from providing beautiful accommodation now also
hosts business and leisure workshops such as photography, cooking, art and goal-setting.
Business owner Melissa Meek Jacobs said the team from Captains Retreat were delighted to hear their name read out at the Hobsons Bay Business Excellence Awards ceremony during 2011.
“We were very happy to be recognised locally for our contribution to the Hobsons Bay Tourism industry,” she said.
“We all work hard to maintain a high standard and pride ourselves on offering excellent service in order to get high repeat business as well as referrals.”
She said the full-time Captains Retreat housekeeper Trish and all the people she worked with deserved applause.
“I could not do it on my own. They are terrific. We now have 11 rooms across four venues and that keeps us very busy,” she said.
Captains Retreat has entered the Hobsons Bay Business Excellence Awards again this year because soon after winning the last one, they won two more awards: the Hobsons Bay Food Safety Award and the prestigious RACV Victorian Tourism Awards’ People’s Choice Award for Guest Satisfaction.
Melissa said winning awards was not just good for the business, it was good for other traders in Williamstown because the state-wide recognition for Captains Retreat brings new people to Williamstown who then spend money in restaurants and shops.
The Hobsons Bay Business Excellence Awards Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation Evening will be on Friday 7 September at the Williamstown Town Hall.
