Driver Mcbusted

A NEWPORT woman copped a fine with her fries after Hobsons Bay police caught her leaving a McDonald’s drive through while intoxicated.
Officers from the Altona North divisional van intercepted the 25-year-old on 4 August after she left the take-away outlet on Millers Rd.
The motorist blew .073 when she taken back to the Altona North Police Station.
She received a $423 fine and her licence was cancelled for six months.
Hobsons Bay Inspector Bill Mathers said the driver did not believe she would be over the legal alcohol limit as she had only drunk a small amount of wine.
He said residents heading out for the night out needed to plan their evening and ensure they took a taxi home, or appointed a designated driver, if they would be drinking.
“It’s about saying to drivers, ‘When you have been drinking it’s not something you should gamble with,” Insp Mathers said.
“If you’re in doubt, don’t drive.”
Hobsons Bay police caught another misbehaving driver on 3 August during a plainclothes operation.
Officers in Newport observed a male motorist who was not wearing his seatbelt.
Police stopped the Altona North male and discovered his licence had already been disqualified by the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court.
As a result of driving while disqualified the 27-year-old’s vehicle was impounded by police for 30 days under Victoria’s anti-hoon laws.
Insp Mathers said the man would face a fee of more than $700 for his vehicle to be released from the impound lot plus another court-imposed penalty.
Anyone who witnesses dangerous driving can contact police on triple zero.
