Local students shine in VCE and take

TWO Hobsons Bay VCE students have earned a place among the best VCE students in the state after taking out prestigious academic awards.
Anita Thomasson was one of 20 students named as a Top All-Round VCE High Achiever after gaining a score of 46 or higher in at least five VCE subjects in 2004 and 2005.
Anita also received an individual study award for media studies.
Altona Meadows resident Brenton Spiteri, who is studying Year 12 at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, also received an individual study award for music performance.
Anita’s teacher, Warren Whitney, said he was not surprised by her success.
“She is the most diligent student I’ve taught in my 15 years as a teacher,” he said, “She really valued her education.”
Premier Steve Bracks last week presented the students with an award for their efforts, applauding them for their “energy, passion and dedication”.
“It takes hard work to reach the highest level in any field and these students are to be congratulated for making the commitment to do their best and achieve excellence in the VCE,” Mr Bracks said.
