Richard Bird and Lynne Walker from The Old Mole are announcing its closure at the end of 2011. Their collection of over 700 antique garden tools is being donated to Carrick Hill Historic House and Garden in Adelaide, where an Australian Garden Museum is being established.
Richard and Lynne are very excited that the collection is to be a part of this project and expect the collection of garden tools will go to Adelaide in the next 18 months. The couple have spent the last 14 years building up the collection. They have travelled widely and visited many shows, fairs and conferences and many glorious gardens.
“We have enjoyed ourselves immensely, have learnt a lot and made many new friends and hopefully been able to make people aware of the importance of preserving our heritage,” said Richard Bird.
The Old Mole will be open this weekend, November 19 and 20 at Heatherbrae 12327 New England Highway, Devils Pinch, 20kms north of Armidale.
This will enable friends and supporters to take a last look at the collection and use the opportunity to purchase the last remaining odds and ends of the business.
Entry will be a gold coin donation, with the proceeds going to the Australian Gardening Museum.
