Noble cause

The efforts of 100 Earle Page College residents will be on show on Saturday April 28.
The University of New England college will be holding its annual Charity Fashion Parade, sponsored by Roberts and Morrow and New England Mutual at the Armidale Ex-Services Club. The event is part of the 33 year tradition of Coast Run, which raises money for The Children’s Medical Research Institute.
The parade involves the collaboration of one hundred college residents who create short and energetic dance routines to showcase the fashion of Armidale. The annual Fashion Parade is one of the biggest events of the college calendar and is a night not to be missed.
“The Fashion Parade has the serious side of fundraising; however, the event is also designed to connect the colleges, the university, and the Armidale community,” said Fashion Parade Coordinator, Karina Marshall.
“We have the opportunity to work together, have an extraordinary night filled with laughter, and create something truly amazing.
“In the process, we are all contributing to the work of The Children’s Medical Research Institute.”
This year, the Fashion Parade will feature a special routine with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Jim Barber taking part with Head of the Residential System, Mrs Barbara Shaw and Senior Common Room and staff members of Earle Page College.
The Fashion Parade is just one of many events organised by the hard working Coast Run Committee through the year, other fundraising events include the Discount Card, and Auction, inter-floor events and the run itself.
A cheque of the money raised by 2011’s Coast Run Committee, convened by Michael Fraser, will be presented to CMRI at the parade, with last year’s parade contributing almost $10,000 to the total.
The public is welcome to attend this worthwhile event. Entry begins at 7:00pm for the event to start at 7:30pm. Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $20 for students and $15 for children under fifteen and can be purchased at the door or from the Earle Page College Office which can be contacted on 6773 5300.
