Is it the “Singer’ or the “Song’? It’s the singer all the time. Richard Torbay has been hard working for the Northern Tablelands, not one letter sent to him as our representative for the Northern Tablelands does not receive a reply. If it is something unusual he will ring a constituent personally.
Before Tony Windsor I voted for the Country Party cum National Party until St.Clair came along, and I felt that he wasn’t a good political representative. I rang his office once and was told by some personal aide, that Mr St Clair wasn’t interested in my problems. I beg your pardon?
Although St Clair fell into the job after Ian Sinclair whose reputation carried him through until Tony Windsor an ex-National Party nominee took on the State and lasted as an Independent for a time until he went onto the Federal circuit.
I’ve supported faithfully Tony and Richard as Independents because I felt the National Party played second fiddle to the city Liberals. Both have done an excellent job for their electorates, until the last Federal election when Tony agreed to support the ALP to maintain government. This has done harm to the Independent identity and allegiance. But it is more that Tony wasn’t hearing his constituents on this climate change debacle unless they are Green. Look climate change is a reality, AGW is not. And clean energy if it is subsidized such as wind or solar farms (unless supporting established coal fired electricity generators) has done nothing to reduce the CO2 in the atmosphere. That’s a reality, the rest of the world know this and is withdrawing subsidies.
Sustainability for the region is important because we are mainly agrarian based. Richard understands this, and if he should stand for the Nationals as our Federal representative – I will vote for him, because “it’s the singer not the song’.
