Bowlo makes it a record in community donations

In the 2011/12 financial year the Armidale City Bowling Club (ACBC) has distributed almost $105,000 to support community organisations, the largest sum in its history.
Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay presented the donations at a ceremony at the Bowlo last Friday evening.
“Building community capital is extremely important and the ACBC at every level from its board, Senior Executive Officer Phil Wheaton, CEO Patrick Crick, to its members, has shown it is committed to those values.”
CEO Patrick Crick believes the club’s community contributions are massively important to the club’s mission.
“It is at the heart of the club and the biggest mission we have, to support the community,” said Patrick.
“It is only through our members’ support that we can do that so, thanks to our members, we have been able to give out a whole heap of money.
“We have given away well over $100,000 broken down into four key areas, health, sport, environment and kids.”
During the year, ACBC has donated more than $45,000 to Armidale sporting clubs, $5500 to families in need, as well as $44,563 to community groups and organisations. A further $40,000 was donated in in-kind contributions.
Around $250,000 is spent on maintaining the club’s bowling greens, providing trophies, travel for member sporting teams and other expenses.
