“Cool 100” shooters line up

“Cool 100” shoot at Guyra Gun Club
AROUND 60 shooters competed on Saturday 27 July and some 80 nominated on Sunday 28 July to contest the popular “Cool 100” and five other events.
Shooters from across Northern NSW and south-eastern Queensland travelled to Guyra to participate.
Event One was a Double Barrel NZ Championship that was won by talented local shooter, Ben Rumbel with a score of 56/56.
The grade results are: AA Grade First, Jeff Richardson 55/56; AA Grade Second, Libby Clarke 44/45; A Grade First, Graham Baylis 28/29; A Grade Second, Ralph Larkings 26/27; B Grade First, Tim Dale 27/28; B Grade Second, Scott Eather 26/28; C Grade First, Steve Littlefield 24/25; C Grade Second, David Waters 23/25.
Saturday’s second event was a Single Barrel Continental NZ Championship. Moree shooter, John Mulligan won the event with a score of 26/26.
The grade results follow: AA Grade First, Roger Carrigan 25/26; AA Grade Second, Clyde Mitchell; A Grade First, Russ Wesslink 23/26; A Grade Second, Tammy Henshall 27/31; B Grade First, Alan West 23/26; B Grade Second, Will Saul 22/26; C Grade First, Steven Littlefield 23/25; C Grade Second Bart Crosby 21/25.
The third event was the Point Score Continental NZ Championship, won by Graham Baylis of Narrabri, shooting the only 75/75 possible.
The grade results are as follows: AA Grade First, John Reid 77/78; AA Grade Second, Libby Clarke 76/78; A Grade First, Lionel Finlay 74/75; A Grade Second, Harry Jarrett70/75; B Grade First, Scott Eather 73/75; B Grade Second, Alan West 71/75; C Grade First, Steven Littlefield 83/87; C Grade Second Bart Crosby 80/87
The last event on Saturday was the Deauville Doubles NZ Championship. The team of John Kent (Inverell), and Clyde Mitchell (Moree), persisted throughout a long shoot off to win the event with a score of 84/84. The pair of Nancy Davis and Tony Ryder was placed second with 82/84.
Sunday morning’s fine weather was soon replaced with overcast skies and tricky light that made the Mixed Targets NZ Championship a challenge. Guyra local, John Reid shot 74/75 to win the Championship.
The grade results are: AA Grade First, Rod Gardiner 98/100; AA Grade Second, John Mulligan 96/100; A Grade First, John Kent 72/75; A Grade Second, Leah Costanzo 70/75; B Grade First, Barry Cameron 64/75; B Grade Second, Scott Eather 80/100; C Grade First, Bart Crosby 65/75; C Grade Second David Waters 60/75.
The final event for the weekend was the time-honoured “Cool 100”.
Brad Henshall won the coveted prize with the only 100/100 possible.
Shooters who secured a Grade prize are; AA Grade First, Paul Tattam 99/100; AA Grade Second, Robert Dial 98/100; A Grade First, Graham Baylis 98/100; A Grade Second, Jack Barker 96/100; B Grade First, Scott Eather 90/100; B Grade Second, Barry Cameron 86/100; C Grade First, Bart Crosby 90/100; C Grade Second, David Waters 84/100; Lady Tammy Henshall 94/100; Veteran Jamie Poole, 96/100; Junior Ben Mulligan 102/108.
Some excellent scores were posted by the following shooters who took High Gun prizes: Overall, John Mulligan (Moree) 290/300; AA Grade, John Reid (Guyra) 289/300; A Grade, Graham Baylis (Narrabri) 284/300; B Grade, Scott Eather 267/300; C Grade Bart Crosby (Boggabri) 267/300; Lady Libby Clark (Port Macquarie) 271/300; Veteran, John Lisle (Walcha) 286/300; Junior, Nick Tanner (Guyra) 271/300.
The high nominations of around 80 shooters is testament to the strength of the Guyra Gun Club.
