THE Armidale Business Chamber (ABC) has appointed Tracy Pendergast as its new Executive Officer, replacing Elizabeth Egan who resigned last month after four years in the EO chair.
Ms Pendergast will be responsible for the continued development of ABC programs that provide a forum for business engagement and innovation in Armidale.
Tracy brings to the role more than 25 years’ business experience gained in marketing and public relations, including as a former associate director of business think tank, CEDA.
For the past decade, she has run a small PR consulting practice supporting companies in professional services, technology and broader commercial sectors.
Although a recent arrival to Armidale (having tree changed with her husband and teenage daughter from Sydney’s inner west in January), Tracy hopes to one day reclaim ‘local’ status, having been born in Guyra.
The appointment was made following a rigorous selection process, led by the ABC’s HR consultant Bron Pearson of Bronwyn Pearson Consulting.
“One of the many great things about Armidale is the energy in the business community: how people make a point of getting in front of new trends and making the most of opportunities,” Tracey said.
“The Armidale Chamber has a very clear focus on supporting local businesses’ growth – and I’m very much looking forward to working with the Chamber to help fulfil this mission.”
Armidale Chamber’s President, Andrew Murray said the Armidale Business Chamber had made enormous strides in recent years.
“With the help of the outgoing EO and past Presidents and Boards – the chamber was fast becoming the forum that brings local businesses together, to share their experiences and gain new insights.“
“The board is focused on building on this foundation – and as president, I’m pleased to welcome Tracy to the team as we take the next steps forward in developing our offerings to members and voicing our shared concerns to government and the broader public.”
