Pub the place for business

PUB Chats, a new monthly forum hosted by the Armidale Business Chamber gives local businesspeople an opportunity for relaxed discussions, networking and exchanges of ideas on business topics.
The first Pub Chat, at the Wicklow Hotel on Thursday 26 September, will feature a chat with local business identity Andrew Murray, who will share some of the tips and techniques he drew on while building his highly successful business career.
Mr Murray’s track record includes key roles in the fuel services industry, as well as developing the award-winning Collect Food Stores, a chain of 30 convenience stores and wholesale fuel depots with a $150 million turnover per annum.
He has also held community roles including as chairman of The Armidale School, director of the Armidale School Foundation, deputy chairman of NERAM and current president of the Armidale Business Chamber.
“One of the challenges for regional businesses is getting access to expertise and new ideas that can help managers kick-start new initiatives,” Armidale Business Chamber’s CEO, Tracy Pendergast said.
“Pub Chats aims to fill that gap: by bringing Armidale’s businesspeople together to learn from each other’s experiences of what works, and what doesn’t. It’s also a great opportunity to strengthen relationships – because you never know when a chance comment or meeting will open up a new door or spark an idea that gives you a head start.”
The Armidale Business Chamber’s September Pub Chat takes place 5.30-6.30 pm on Thursday 26 September. Entry is free (buy your own drinks) to Armidale Business Chamber members and their guests. Further details www.armidalechamber.com.au
