New England Bowls With Richie Clutterbuck
I WOULD strongly recommend all clubs to download the discussion paper on the changes to zone boundaries in 2015. This can be found on the BowlsNSW website. The paper outlines the proposed zone/regional changes and structures based on the parameters outlined in the paper.
Formal feedback will be sought by BowlsNSW from current zones/regions prior to any progression or adoption of a new zone/region model. We need to have each district discuss these matters and be prepared to offer feedback when asked for. Do not leave it to the last minute – if you do then changes may well affect our area dramatically.
Area 11 is the North West NSW area that concerns us and I notice several incorrect stats that I will inform BowlsNSW about. Submissions must be received by January. I again request to all clubs to look at this and make submissions as necessary as if it proceeds it may well mean the end of pennants for many of our clubs due to the excessive travelling.
Ex-Services spring carnival
THE Ex-Services spring carnival proved a success although a bye was necessary due to players not checking who they were playing with. Despite this it was another very successful weekend with teams playing five games of 14 ends. After these matches only one team had managed to win all five and Greg Harrison, Chris Kliendienst and Graham Bourke from City took home the major prize from club mates Jim Williams, Glen Graham and Gavin Latham with four wins. Third went to Bob Cutmore, Duncan McLean and Gerry Widders, fourth to Mike Ahoy, Laurie Williams and Peter Cutmore, fifth to Brain and Reg Battersby and Bill Widders and sixth to Clifton Marshall, Lindsay McIntyre and Paul Bullen. Dave Wilcox has advised me that Guyra has received great support for their December carnival and both the pairs and triples are full with Mona Vale bringing five teams.
Zone 3 pair’s finals
NO luck for Todd and Steve Fuller at Lighting Ridge in the Zone 3 pair’s finals after they went down 16-15 to Kootingal. I do not have the final result at present and Todd will still go to Belrose for the state finals in the singles. Several vacancies are available in the City club’s minor pairs on 12-13 October so if you would like to enter then please contact me.
