ARMIDALE’S North’s United Football Club can look forward to next season after the club received a $5595 grant from the NSW Government to upgrade its second field at the Phil Wheaton Grounds.
The club organised a working bee recently to help spread several loads of dirt and fill to even out the playing field and took time out to thank Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall for his support in securing the required funding.
“It’s a great club and I’m delighted I was able help them secure the funding through the NSW Government’s Sport and Recreation grants program,” Mr Marshall said.
“The club’s junior players have been using an uneven field with a cricket pitch in its centre for a while now, so to have the field levelled out and the old concrete pitch removed is a huge improvement for them.
“I’m looking forward to coming back during next season to see the finished product and watch the successful North’s junior teams play.”
North’s United Football President Lindsay Grigg said the club appreciated Mr Marshall’s assistance and said the funds would also go towards an irrigation system for the fields.
“We now have 305 registered players so it’s great we have this opportunity to upgrade the fields and improve the playing surface for our members,” Mr Grigg said.
“We’ve had a lot of club supporters turn up to help with the working bee so it’s been a very positive result,” he said.
