IT’S not every day you see an entire girls’ school donning moustaches for a worthy cause.
That’s exactly what happened at PLC Armidale last week as the students and staff showed their support of the national Movember campaign.
An initiative of the college’s maintenance staff, the PLC Movember fund-raiser was embraced by the whole school.
“The support has been awesome and its been lots of fun,” maintenance head James Pankhurst said.
He, along with most of the school’s male staff, has been growing his distinctive moustache since 1 November.
More than $300 has been raised to date, but the big fund-raising will happen on Friday when the men shave off their mos.
“I will always remember this about PLC Armidale,” outgoing Head of School Debra Kelliher said.
“There is such a giving culture across the entire school community. And it is this trait that I see time and again when I meet PLC Armidale graduates.
“They have a humility about them and are such wonderful contributors to the wider community.”
