Expo pushes city links

THE ARMIDALE-based Foundation for Regional Development will take its annual expo to Sydney for the 11th time next year after receiving $100,000 from the State Government.
Chairman Anthony Fox said he was thrilled the NSW Department of Trade and Investment renewed its funding for the Country and Regional Living Expo.
“The expo provides city families with the perfect opportunity to talk about what regional communities have to offer, in terms of lifestyle, jobs and real estate,” he said.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner met with Mr Fox and chief executive Peter Bailey in Armidale last month to discuss plans for next year’s expo.
Mr Stoner said the funding would help the FRD continue its work, promoting regional NSW as a great place to live.
“The Government understands the importance of population growth in our regional communities and that is why we have actively taken steps to achieve this, through our decentralisation policy and our regional relocation grants,” Mr Stoner said.
The 2014 expo will run from 2-3 August at the Howie Complex in the Sydney Showgrounds at Olympic Park. Entry is free.
