THE Christmas lunch attended by 30 members of the Armidale branch of the Country Women’s Association proved to be a double celebration.
A surprise guest was Brie Caton, the 14-year-old granddaughter of local CWA member Faye Gosling.
During the lunch, it was announced that Brie has won the CWA Joplin Education Grant for 2014. Brie is a boarder at Calrossy School and will be in Year 9 next year.
She lives at Carinda, one hour west of Walgett, and received a $1000 scholarship, part of which will go to purchase an iPad, a requirement for Year 9 students at the school.
