OPERA New England raised the bar for entertainment in the region after La Boheme sold out for all four performances over the weekend.
Packed houses filled the Hoskins Centre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, while the Sunday matinee show was also at capacity.
Director George Torbay said he was thrilled to see the seats filled and said the feedback had been extraordinary.
“I think we certainly set a new standard,” he said.
“The Marriage of Figaro was great last year, but I think La Boheme was even better.”
Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall attended on Friday night and said his first opera experience was a memorable one.
“I didn’t know what to expect, but I was overwhelmed by how professional it was,” he said.
“The volunteers at Opera New England should be congratulated for bringing a city-class performance to Armidale.”
