TRACK records could fly out the window this month as the Armidale Greyhound Racing Club gears up for its annual Cup Carnival.
The first of the three carnival meetings in February starts on Saturday, with the feature the heats of the Mitchell Family Grade 4/5 series.
The heats will be run over 440m, with the final to be held on 15 February.
There will also be two heats of the Maiden Series over 365m, with the final to be held on the same date.
Bookmaker and track curator Barry Mitchell said the recent dry weather meant the Armidale track would produce fast times this Saturday.
“The track is still in good condition, but we’d love some rain,” he said.
“We’ll probably put a fair bit of water on to it over the next few weeks because of the carnival.”
The heats of the Armidale Cup will be run on Saturday, 8 February, while the main race day will be on 15 February.
