Juniors earn respect in rep finals

THE future of local cricket appears in good hands after Armidale’s juniors made the final of the Northern Inland Representative competition for the second year running.
Following the under-12s win last season, this season’s under-14s side has stepped up to finish on top of the ladder, earning a home final this Sunday.
Both sides won in Narrabri on Sunday, however the under-12s narrowly missed out on a finals berth.
Armidale under-14s bowled first in its game and stunned supporters by bowling Narrabri out for 66. Jackson Gwynne was the best of the bowlers with 3/15. The team then overtook that target in the 21st over to secure the win, with Liam Neeson top-scoring on 19.
Armidale’s under-12s fought valiantly to triumph in a close game against Narrabri.
The win came on the back of an all-round team effort with the bat, but was highlighted by Nicholas Page’s impressive figures of 6/12 with the ball.
Armidale bowled Narrabri out for 87 before chasing down that total with just two overs to spare.
The under-12 team completed its season to finish on equal points with Gunnedah and Narrabri, behind an undefeated Moree.
Armidale will host Inverell this Sunday in the under-14s final at Lambert Park, starting at 9.30am.
