POLICE are appealing for public assistance after a woman was threatened by a man with a knife at Armidale and forced to drive about 30km.
About 8pm last Wednesday, a 19-year-old woman was getting into her Mazda hatchback which was parked on Brown Street, Armidale, when she was approached by a man with a knife.
Police were told the man, whose face was concealed, ordered her to drive him almost 30km towards Guyra.
The woman complied with the man’s direction and drove for almost half an hour, dropping him off on the New England Highway, south of Guyra.
The woman, who was not injured in the ordeal, drove home and contacted police from New England Local Area Command.
They have launched an investigation into the incident and would like to speak to a man who has been described as 170-180cm tall, with a thin build, who was wearing dark clothing at the time.
