Forest tracks racing zone

THE popular 12 Hours in the Piney mountain bike event will be run on the bike tracks in the Armidale Pine Forest this Saturday.
One of the premier events on the mountain bike calendar, the Piney will attract hundreds of competitors from across NSW.
To make the event safe for both riders and regular users of the pine forest, the Armidale Pine Forest Committee has given the event a special permit for use on Saturday from 9am until midnight.
The committee is urging regular users to avoid the pine forest during this event.
New England Mountain Bikers’ president Peter Hosking hoped people from town would go and have a look at the event.
“We would urge spectators to avoid the tracks being used and to keep dogs on lead,” he said.
“If anyone would like to determine the best vantage points please enquire at the event hub at Charleston Willows.”
The Armidale Pine Forest will resume normal use for recreational users again from Sunday.
