Music festival gets chance to hit right note

DEFERRED consent was given to a development application lodged by the promoters of the Sunset Music Festival at an extraordinary meeting of Armidale Dumaresq Council last week.
The development application considered by council was for a music festival to be held at the Armidale Showground on Saturday 26 April from noon to 10pm.
Councillors voted to issue approval for the event on a deferred basis subject to the applicant providing written agreement from NSW Police that they could provide adequate police services during the event.
Armidale Dumaresq Council’s planning manager Karl Bock said the applicant for the Sunset Music Festival had met the council’s planning requirements.
“The application for the proposed music festival included details on how the event would be managed and when the event would occur,” he said.
“A number of conditions have been imposed by council to ensure that adequate plans are in place to manage the different aspects of an event like this.
“These relate to the hours the event occurs, managing noise levels and people movement in terms of traffic flow in and out of the venue.”
Council will advertise the changed traffic conditions that will be in place around the Armidale showground once the deferred consent conditions have been met and received by council in writing.
