Hockey one, hockey two

HOCKEY sisters Clare and Sarah Askey have been selected in the under-16 Independent Girls Schools Sports Association representative team after shining at trials in Sydney.
It was a whistle-stop tour for the New England Girls School students, who raced back to Armidale to push for selection in under-18s New England Hockey squad.
NEGS has improved its wares on the hockey field following the recent appointment of hockey coach Blair Chalmers.
Chalmers had been coaching the Askey sisters from a young age and both were thrilled with his appointment.
In his role, Chalmers will manage the NEGS hockey program, which will see him co-ordinate the coaching and skill development of all players.
Chalmers is also regional coaching co-ordinator for the Northern Inland region.
The Askey girls will step out for the IGGSA team at the Combined Independent Schools carnival in Sydney next Tuesday.
