SENIOR members of the Armidale Blues Rugby Club are looking forward to providing an opportunity for junior rugby players to play the game after receiving a $5100 grant from the NSW Government’s Sport and Recreation Participation program.
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall met with club president Gerard ’Moose’ Stephen last week to deliver the good news and discuss the club’s plans for the expansion of the junior rugby union competition in Armidale.
Mr Marshall said the club wanted to open the doors of junior rugby to the wider community by running gala days in Armidale where children over six years old were welcome to try out the sport.
“The Armidale Blues Rugby Club already has around 90 players in their junior ranks but they’d like to test the waters to see how they can develop the junior competition further and involve a lot more players,” he said.
