NSW FARMERS president Fiona Simson is in Armidale tomorrow to speak to members of the Armidale Business Chamber about life in regional NSW.
Chamber executive officer Tracy Prendergast said Ms Simpson was a strong advocate for measures that helped local farms remain strong and sustainable.
“Her views will no doubt provide a signpost for those on the land and the broader business sector,” she said.
“I expect she will outline her vision for the future of agriculture.”
The “pub chat” will be held at the Armidale Ex-Services Club from 5.30pm.
Skills in demand
A GROUP of like-minded workers have joined forces to bring back Armidale Young Professionals.
Spokesperson Christina Woodhill said AYP was a community group which aimed to provide social networking opportunities and a professional development platform for people living and working within the New England tegion.
“We are working with the Armidale business community in order to attract young professionals and retain their skills and services in our local region,” she said.
The official relaunch is being held at NERAM on Friday from 6.30pm.

Danger at end
NEW ENGLAND’S bushfire danger period will end next Monday.
From 1 April, fire permits will no longer be required for the Armidale, Guyra, Uralla and Walcha municipalities.
Inspector Tim Butcher said rules still needed to be followed when lighting fires.
“Even though a fire permit is no longer a requirement, residents must still notify their neighbours and the local fire authority 24 hours before burning,” he said.
