A GROUP of girls from the New England Girls School braved the chilly conditions to compete in the Coffs Ocean Swim on Sunday.
All of the students made it into the top 250, with three girls in the top 100.
Mikaela Ball finished third in the 11-15 years catergory, while Anthea Powell was third in the 16-19 years section.
Alicia Ball finished 24th in the 600m swim.
NEGS head prefect and swimming captain Emily Rogers was the only student to have participated in the Coffs Ocean Swim previously.
She was part of The Armidale School team that swam in Coffs Harbour in 2013.
This year she decided to put together a team from NEGS, sending out an email to senior school students.
A team of eight was formed for the charity event, which offered participants a choice of distances catering for both the novice and the more competitive swimmers.
All funds raised by the NEGS team will be distributed to local charities and sporting clubs.
