Rivals draw derby prelude

NORTHS United overcame a sluggish start to draw with cross-town rivals Demon Knights in the Northern Inland Premier League on Saturday.
The Redmen were down 1-0 at half-time before responding to equalise and share the points.
“To be honest I thought we had enough chances to win the game,” Norths coach Andy Lennon said.
“We had some issues defensively which we addressed at half-time and couldn’t take our chances to win.”
The Redmen’s equaliser came when Andrew McGann found himself one-on-one with the DK keeper following a quick transition from defence.
“We worked on that movement in the pre-season,” Lennon said.
Norths will face South Armidale this week in what should be a cracking derby at the Sportsground.
The Scorpions go into the match on the back of a 4-1 victory against East Armidale.
Easts will have to lick their wounds when they play Guyra at Doody Park.
