Walk for humanity

ARMIDALE residents will join national event Walk for Justice for Refugees with a walk in Central Park this Sunday.
Armidale Rural Australians for Refugees is organising the
family-friendly, non-political walk, one of many being held around Australia. The meeting point is the fountain at 11am.
ARAR supporters meet once a month with the aim of promoting justice and human rights in the way Australia deals with refugees and asylum seekers.
“We are committed to the compassionate treatment of asylum seekers, and to a better understanding of why desperate people are forced to flee their homes and exercise their right to seek asylum,” member Elizabeth O’Hara said.
“There was a great banner at a March In March rally that said ’It’s not our borders that need protection, it’s our humanity’.
“It was this idea that brought us together in Armidale.”
The next meeting of ARAR will be on Wednesday 16 April at Kent House on Faulkner Street at 5.15pm.
