Kids fishing for fun

On July 25, the Tweed River suffered from a dramatic depletion of its fish stocks!
As part of a reward day, WD from Tweed Heads South Public School, rigged up their fishing rods and fished a secret location that can only be disclosed as ‘near the bowls club’.
Dylan AKA ‘Rex Hunt’ was the first to land a fish and Connor was not for behind, landing a rare Zebra fish.
Mrs Sherriff is never far from the action and she was kind enough to deliver some gourmet chip sandwiches.
The children, Mr Foran and Mr Nicholls proved that they were even hungrier than the fish!
Mr Foran showed his experience and helped show the boys the secrets of baiting a hook while a friendly local shared some of his secret bait techniques.
Dylan topped off the day catching another Zebra fish, further cementing his ‘Rex Hunt’ reputation.
It was great to see the boys sharing, getting along with each other and representing our school positively in the fishing community. Thanks to Mrs Wells who helped on the day to supervise the boys and passed on some of her own fishing secrets.
Some quotes from WD students:
“It was cool that Jhy looked under the rocks and found a little crab” – Jake.
“We had fun with each other and catching fish” – Dylan.
“I had heaps of fun catching crabs” – Jhy.
