Tweed business operators will be polishing up their best ‘pick-up’ lines to make a fast first impression at Destination Tweed’s Speed Networking event on August 31.
Applying the principles of speed dating to business networking, participants will be paired up in a round robin format where they’ll have three to four minutes to talk about their business before moving on to the next person in line.
Organisers are hoping to see at least 40 businesses in attendance, meaning that each participant will be able showcase their products or services to at least 20 other operators.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for business operators to promote their own organisation and learn more about other businesses in the region,” said Destination Tweed CEO, Phil Villiers.
“Through this one-on-one focussed networking format, we’re looking for ‘perfect matches’ who can see an opportunity to work together by packaging complementary products, referring clients and sourcing locally-produced supplies.
“It’s an opportunity for accommodation managers to meet activity operators; for accountants to meet solicitors; for chefs and restaurateurs to meet local food producers; for boutique owners to meet beauty therapists; and so on.
“From a tourism perspective, knowing more about what’s available in the local area and being able to recommend various activities and attractions allows us to enhance our visitors’ holiday experience.
“Similarly, retail operators, professional service providers, restaurateurs and the like can directly benefit by sourcing supplies or recommending associated businesses to keep consumer expenditure in the Tweed region.”
Destination Tweed’s Speed Networking event will be held at Babalou Restaurant, Kingscliff on Wednesday, August 31 from 2.45pm to 5pm. Entry is free for Destination Tweed members and $25 per person for non-members. Registration is essential – contact Emma Cao at Destination Tweed on
