Putting bat to ball with practised skill, Centaur Primary girls’ cricket team bowled Terranora primary school all out for 109 in a high spirited match on Friday, February 25.
In reply, the Centaurs were five for 248, winning the match by five wickets and more than 140 runs.
Coach Steve Miller said the girls had trained hard most lunch breaks leading up to their first game of the year.
“We had last minute fillers who played remarkably well,” Miller said.
“The team maintained an impressive all round performance. I am proud of their winning 5/248 achievement.”
Top score of the day went to Jasmin Stott (Centaur) making 21 runs while Tarryn Aiken (Terranora) was the best of the bowlers with 5/1 from five overs.
Terranora Coach, Tom Gardiner, rallied the Terranora team, saying they played with great spirit but unfortunately were out cricketed on the day.
Captains Shania Myers (Centaur) and Tegan Horton (Terranora) both agreed it was a long, hot day; however they enjoyed the competition.
