Register now and become a Little Athlete

Rugby legend and former Little Athlete, George Gregan, is challenging Tweed Coast Little Athletes to register and be part in the 2011/2012 Little Athletics NSW season.
Tweed Seagulls Little Athletics Centre have been holding their sign-ons for the past few weeks and will start their season this weekend. The centre, based at Walter Peate Oval, Kingscliff has changed its name for the new year.
George Gregan tested his athletic prowess when he took on Little Athletics Age Champions during the McDonald’s Little Athletes v Big Athletes Challenge held on Monday, September 12.
The McDonald’s Little Athletes v Big Athletes Challenge marked the official launch of the 2011/2012 Little Athletics NSW season and saw George compete against Little Athletes in three events; the 100 metre sprint, long jump and javelin throws.
George, who is one of the first inductees in the Little Athletics Australia Roll of Excellence, is a proud advocate of athletics and believes in the strong foundation it gives young athletes to pursue a wide variety of sports.
“I’m thrilled to be part of this Challenge and really encourage parents to get their children involved in Little Athletics. I can personally attest to the benefits it brings young kids, developing not only their athletics skills, but their confidence and self-esteem by promoting positive attitudes and a healthy lifestyle.
“I’m proud to support an organisation that has given me a strong foundation in sports which enabled me to reach my sporting dreams,” said George.
McDonald’s, who supported the Challenge, has shared a longstanding partnership with Little Athletics NSW for the past eight years, and is proud to provide overall financial assistance to the organisation as well as Awards, Grants and Scholarships to encourage up and coming athletes.
McDonald’s Tweed Heads South licensee, John Davis, is excited to continue his commitment to Little Athletics NSW in 2011/2012.
“I’m proud to continue our partnership with Little Athletics, as it is a fantastic organisation that encourages kids to lead healthy, balanced lifestyles. I hope that together we can get more children signed-up and break the registration record this season,” said John.
Kerry O’Keefe, CEO of Little Athletics NSW, is delighted to have Gregan and McDonald’s support for the new season of Little Athletics.
“George is such a great role model for the Little Athletes, having had such an illustrious sporting career. I’m sure that he has inspired the kids to believe in themselves and work hard to achieve their sporting dreams, not only in Athletics, but in any sport they wish to pursue in the future.
“Without the support of McDonald’s, Little Athletics NSW wouldn’t be able to offer parents such great value. I’m eternally grateful for their tremendous contribution and commitment to keeping registration costs low for families,” concluded Kerry.
