Roll up, roll up, the circus is in town!
The Tweed Mayor will host a special charity performance of the Great Moscow Circus next month, celebrating the first large event to be held at Tweed’s newest event space, the Jack Evans Boat Harbour at Tweed Heads.
Tweed families and residents can enjoy a great night of entertainment with tickets for the charity night only priced at a special flat rate of $20 per seat.
Under special arrangements with the circus and Council, all proceeds from the night will go to the Tweed and Murwillumbah Hospital Auxiliaries to benefit our local hospitals.
The Mayor’s Charity Performance will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at 7pm (NSW time), with doors opening at 6.15pm. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
The event will feature renowned Russian performers together with exclusive international guest acts, showcasing a performance of sensational skill and agility.
Councillor Kevin Skinner said he was delighted to be able to assist two local not-for-profit organisations, and thanked the circus management for the opportunity.
“The hard-working members of the Tweed and Murwillumbah Auxiliaries do a marvellous job to assist our two local public hospitals and I am pleased to be able to offer them this fundraising opportunity,” Cr Skinner said.
“In the last financial year, Hospital Auxiliaries across NSW raised nearly $10 million for our public hospitals which was put back to assist patients through the purchase of much-needed equipment.”
The president of the Tweed Heads Hospital Auxiliary, Jan Tobin, welcomed the opportunity to raise more money for The Tweed Hospital and Murwillumbah District Hospital.
“We’re delighted to be given this opportunity to raise funds for more equipment and it’s so nice to share it with Murwillumbah, as they’re such a great little Auxiliary,” Mrs Tobin said.
“There’s not much you can put in a hospital in the way of equipment that’s not expensive – a wheelchair is around $2000 and electronic beds are $5000 each,” she said.
Tickets for the Mayor’s Charity Performance on October 5 are available at the Tweed Heads and Murwillumbah Visitor Information Centres (VIC) on 1800 674 414, online at www.destinationtweed.com.au and from the Auxiliary Gift Shop at The Tweed Hospital.
